Annual quiz night

Tiptree Garden Club. Thurs.3rd Jan. was the annual quiz night, questions were set by the club chairman, this was a fun evening .Prizes for the winners were vouchers from Millins butchers and the bobie prizes were jiffy lemons, ready for pancake day. Next year entry will be for members plus one.

Thursday 7th Feb .Colin Ashby’s topic is Growing and Harvesting cricket bat willows. Colin studied agriculture at Writtle college and later joined the family timber business. In 1991 he set up his own forestry business growing and felling cricket bat willows, now he travels the world overseeing the growing of these willows.

Colin is very interested in country pursuits and also serves his local community by being on the parish council.

The new show schedule is on the web site, and in some of the local shops in February. Gardeners don’t forget the garden club garden competition, seed and plant catalogues are arriving daily in the post ready for planning for the competition, the judging is between 2nd and 19th July.

Meetings are held at St. Luke’s Church extension, Church Road, Tiptree and start at 8p.m. Members £2, visitors £3. There will be a raffle & refreshments.
