Spring Show Report

Tiptree Garden Club held their Spring Show Sat on 17th March. With a typical winter getting under way, pots of bulbs being dug up and checked for progress, then the decision to be made whether to leave the pots in the cool shade or take in the warm to bring on the blooms. The 'beast from the east', weather system arrived and pots needed to be put under shelter or go indoors in the warm, even on the top shelf of the airing cupboard (while the lady of house isn't looking). These are the extremes exhibitors of flowering bulbs go to, to produce the beautiful display at the show and once again forsythia stems needed to be taken indoors to get the flowers to open.

The flower and vegetable entries were very depleted owing to the weather, floral art subjects caught the imagine of the exhibitors and entries were up on last year, the class 'an arrangement in a shoe' was very popular with various styles of shoes being used.
